In front the so called 'Donnerpawn', a glass object made by the artist Max Ernst (1891 - 1976). It was won by DD's most famous member grandmaster Hein Donner (1927 - 1988) when he won the strong tournament in Venice in 1967, ahead of World Champion Tigran Petrosjan.
Photography has done at least as much to deaden conscience as to arouse it.
